I have just become the proud owner of a Norton Navigator. A bit of a barn find. Unfortunately it did not come with any logbook paperwork so I am going through the process of trying to get it transferred to myself. I am not sure what year it is. The frame number is 100570 which would make it a 61 but an old receipt from a previous owner refers to 62. Could it be a 62? I want to make sure that I buy the correct spares/parts catalogue. Would the carb be the same. If so how do I identify the AMAL model so that I can buy a gasket kit.

I am sure others will correct me, but a frame number is indicative of year of manufacture. It may have sat in a showroom for several months, and so not actually registered until the following year.
The club shop has manuals, this should be your first stop!.

Norton 100570 was part of a large batch of Navigators built in the 3rd week of November 1961.

I think the year is not my…
I think the year is not my biggest issue. I have to try and get it registered in my name with the original number. The seller that I bought it off lost the logbook. In addition he didn't register the change of ownership when he bought it in 1974. It's been in storage since 1974. I applied to DVLA 5 weeks ago but haven't heard a thing. I'm now trying through the club. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has traveled this road.
